Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, an organization not driven by profit but by a very important mission: Freedom of the press, is searching for an experienced Manager for its News and Studio Operations.

As a Manager of News and Studio Operations you will oversee all Prague Production Studio operations, operations staff and resources, and also make-up & wardrobe department.

Additionally, you will assist the Director of Broadcast Operations in overseeing all RFE/RL Bureaus studio and production facilities in various places such as Kyiv, Riga, Bishkek and many others.

You will be responsible for ensuring that digital & broadcast production standards are upheld to a high level, that staff are prepared, and that flexibility is ensured to respond to changing and developing news and events.

What you’ll accomplish:

  • Manage Prague studio and field operations staff based on Production demands.

  • Ensure that the assignment of studios, staff and other production resources, is suitable for all production needs.

  • Ensure that staff perform their duties in a satisfactory manner; including through reviews, appraisals and disciplinary action when necessary.

  • Ensure facilities are available for a wide range of production needs – digital, broadcast, productions, new formats, one-time and special events.

  • Ensure that policies, procedures and established workflows in studio and production areas are followed.

  • Oversee resource management in Prague, and in coordination with Director of BO and services, at RFE/RL bureaus

  • Assist Director of Broadcast Operations, and work with the Broadcast Operations Development Team, in the development & training of workflows, tools and production processes for Prague and RFE/RL Bureau Production facilities.

  • Liaise with Service Directors, producers and journalists on issues related to digital production and broadcasts needs.

  • Works with other departments to ensure that the needs of Broadcast Operations staff are met.

  • Supervises the distribution and inventory of company’s field audio and video equipment in cooperation with the Central Property Office and the camera department.

What you bring:

  • Specialized education in audio-visual arts is preferred.

  • At least 10 years of experience in working in a live broadcast and production environment is required.

  • At least 5 years of team management experience is required.

  • Proven organizational, management & planning skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills including outstanding communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with external and internal clients.

  • Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to quickly anticipate, trouble-shoot and resolve problems.

  • Strong knowledge of digital and broadcast production requirements and production processes.

  • Strong knowledge of digital production and broadcast industry technology and trends.

  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.

Languages:

  • English language at proficient level, mandatory.

  • Russian working knowledge, mandatory.
